3-DAY, COBÁ, CHICHÉN-ITZÁ, FLAMINGOS
Programmed Tour: July 6th, December 7th.
Ride to the Cobá ruins in the middle of the jungle. This is the highest pyramid on the peninsula. The top offers a fantastic view over two lagoons and the vast jungle.
Have lunch in Valladolid and get to know the handcraft produced there. It is a small, quaint town that still preserves a colonial flavor. The majority of the townspeople still wear typical dress of the Maya. The Cenotes “Zaci” or “Sammula” are great for swimming.
In the afternoon arrive to Chichén-Itzá, the famous ancient Mayan City. “Light and Sound” night show at the ruins.
SECOND DAY – CHICHÉN-ITZÁ, FLAMINGOS, SUNSET SWIM
Take a walk around the Chichén-Itzá ruins in daylight.
After this, ride north to the Mexican Gulf, Rio Lagartos. Located about 350 km northwest of Playa. It was declared a wildlife refuge in 1979, the Rio Lagartos Reserve covers over 100,000 acres of a wide variety of habitats including flamingos, howler monkeys, crocodiles, jaguars, pheasants and white tail deer.
Take a small boat out from a tiny fishing town of San Felipe to enjoy a sunset swim.
THIRD DAY – SAN FELIPE, TIZIMIN, COBÁ
Depart in the morning through the narrow jungle roads back to the Caribbean coast and ride to Cancun.
Visit the “Hotel Zone” to see the endless stretches of hotels and white sand beaches.
You’ll be back to Playa in the afternoon.
After the ride you should enjoy the local sights and spend a few days in Playa del Carmen.
